Merchandisers are responsible for promoting the sale of live plants by creating and maintaining displays based on the plants' characteristics and the layout of each Garden Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintains merchandising standards through the execution of live nursery programs 
  • Keeps live goods displays fresh, neat, clean, and organized per layout 
  • Communicates regularly with District Manager, Team Lead, and appropriate store staff 
  • Informs supervisor of any issues with displays, product quality, safety, or store partners 
  • Maintains a professional and customer-friendly attitude 
  • Provides customer service and assistance with live goods 
  • Follows company safety protocols to maintain a safe working and shopping environment
  • Follows customer and vendor policies and procedures in daily work routine 

Qualifications:

  • Experience or desire to learn about plants and retail merchandising 
  • Ability to carefully follow directions 
  • Pays strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to follow through and complete all tasks
  • Commitment to following all safety requirements and recommendations 
  • A smart phone is required to utilize work-related apps and communications 
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and key holidays during peak seasons as needed 
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Fluency to read, write, and understand the English language

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work in all outdoor elements 
  • Walk and stand, push, pull, bend, and stoop for an entire shift 
  • Lift or carry up to 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Lift a minimum of 18 lbs. over your head 
  • Perform a buddy or team lift 51-100 lbs. 
  • Climb stairs or ladders

Leads perform in a Merchandiser role with additional responsibilities.

  • Communicates product updates to store staff and merchandisers
  • Informs store management of issues with displays, product or safety
  • Assists with recruiting, training and retention of seasonal merchandising staff
  • Conducts ongoing training and direction to seasonal merchandisers 
  • Takes photos and filing reports as requested

Team Leads are responsible for maintaining merchandising standards through the execution of live nursery programs in their assigned Garden Center(s). They provide guidance and training to the merchandising team to ensure smooth and effective operations during each work shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Executes daily merchandising tasks for assigned store(s) as directed by the District Manager 
  • Delegates merchandising tasks to the team to assure live goods displays are fresh, neat, clean, and organized per layout 
  • Assists District Manager with training and further developing merchandisers’ job skills 
  • Follows all company safety protocols to maintain a safe working and shopping environment 
  • Builds productive working relationships with store staff 
  • Communicates feedback and updates to store personnel and merchandisers as needed to facilitate product sales 
  • Informs District Manager of any issues with displays, product quality, safety, or store partners 
  • Completes assigned reports and provides pictures in a timely manner 
  • Performs inventory control tasks utilizing company-provided app 
  • Maintains a professional and customer-friendly attitude 
  • Provides customer service and assistance with live goods 
  • Follows customer and vendor policies and procedures in daily work routine 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates relevant leadership and communication skills 
  • Proven Garden Center merchandising proficiency

  • Travel-compensated positions must provide valid driver’s license and proof of required insurance coverage and pass the company’s required Motor Vehicle Report requirements 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Lift or carry up to 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Lift a minimum of 18 lbs. over your head

  • Climb stairs or ladders 

District Managers are responsible for the execution and performance of the live goods merchandising service program within their assigned district, including staffing stores to budgeted levels. They provide leadership and support to their team by embracing the company’s mission, vision, and values to achieve all goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Works with the Regional Manager and Field Support to recruit, interview, and hire Garden Center 
  • merchandising teams according to budgetary needs 
  • Trains and develops merchandising team according to company expectations 
  • Provides ongoing communication, direction, and leadership to the merchandising team
  • Follows all company safety protocols to maintain a safe working and shopping environment 
  • Builds and maintains productive working relationships with teams and store staff throughout district
  • Provides updates and feedback to facilitate product sales throughout district
  • Maintains a professional and customer-friendly attitude
  • Follows customer and vendor policies and procedures in daily work routine 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required 
  • Prior management, supervisory, or related leadership experience
  • Ability to plan and coordinate multiple initiatives while meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrates relevant leadership, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to carefully follow directions while paying strong attention to detail
  • Commitment to following all safety requirements and recommendations
  • Ability to learn and embrace company software and business-related applications
  • Willingness to learn and embrace new technology 
  • Willingness to embrace company culture 
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and key holidays during peak seasons as needed
  • Weekend work as required according to business needs
  • Must reside within designated district

Regional Managers are responsible for the execution of the Garden Center Live Goods merchandising program by providing oversight, leadership, and support to a team of District Managers. They act as a company liaison, providing information and guidance to client regional management and store teams. The Regional Manager also maintains ongoing communications with the Operations Manager regarding Regional progress.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for the execution of the Garden Center Live Goods service program throughout region 
  • Trains and develops District Managers according to company expectations
  • Provides oversight to District Managers in the staffing process according to budgetary needs 
  • Provides ongoing communication, direction, and leadership to District Managers 
  • Follows all company safety protocols to maintain a safe working and shopping environment 
  • Builds and maintains productive working relationships with merchandising teams, live goods suppliers, store staff, and client merchants/operations managers throughout the region 
  • Provides updates and feedback to facilitate product sales throughout region
  • Maintains a professional and customer-friendly attitude
  • Follows customer and vendor policies and procedures in daily work routine 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or relevant field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience to include people management and development 
  • Ability to plan and coordinate multiple initiatives while meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrates relevant leadership, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to carefully follow directions while paying strong attention to detail 
  • Commitment to following all safety requirements and recommendations
  • Ability to learn and embrace company software and business-related applications
  • Experience in The Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to embrace new technology 
  • Willingness to embrace company culture 
  • Must reside within designated region
  • Extensive travel with some overnights required 
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and key holidays according to business needs 
  • Must pass criminal background check 
  • Fluency to read, write, and understand the English language  
  • Must provide valid driver’s license and proof of required insurance coverage and pass the company’s required Motor Vehicle Report requirements 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Will travel by motorized vehicle for extended periods of time
  • Air travel may be required according to business needs
  • Will work outdoors, sometimes under adverse weather conditions
